Hello everyone,

I was just wondering how many of you use a financial consultant of some form? I've started to get a handful of clients, and the money is starting to come in. Now I've purchased a few things this year that are business related. A new computer, Adobe CS3, a external Hardrive, and I plan on buying a large LCD screen. So I want to know my options for writing these off at the end of the year, if I have to register as a business to do so, etc.

I was just wondering where do you go? I do have a "financial consultant" at my bank that deals with mutual funds. I'm not sure if he will be too helpful in this case... but I'm sure if I mention opening a business bank account... he may be helpful :P

I'm just wondering where you get your advice. I'd like to see a profressional... more so to make my life easier. I do have an understanding of tax laws, etc. I even do my own taxes each year. But I think it would be more efficient use of my time to start seeing a profressional.

If you want to get the most tax breaks possible, you should incorporate (or set up an LLC). You really do need to sit down with a CPA to discuss what you want to accomplish so that they can guide you in the right direction.

CPA or Accountant is what you're looking for. You find em just like you would any other service. Phone book, internet, or if you know some other business people you can ask em for a recommendation. :)
