Well a couple of weeks ago I was here asking about which software I should use with a new graphic tablet I had bought for my son and I, that thread is here (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30332) , moving on ;)

After a lot of helpful advice, I tried a few demos of software, then installed our tablet on my friend's PC to try out Photoshop and intantly fell inlove with the software! It worked perfectly with the tablet and was exactly what we were looking for to get the feel of drawing on paper, but on a PC. Except this is much easier and looks awesome with photoshop's tools!

Anyway, I wanted to show my second sketch using photoshop, well the sketch turned into drawing a banner for a friend's website. I am by no means a graphic designer, and I know this is the base of this site, but I wanted to share my work with the community that helped point me in the right direction! I am very excited about it as you can tell, but I know to expect criticism as well and I will take it as contsructive :D

Thanks!

The smaller pictures on top are the stages as I went along saving the pics, then at one point I had to change the design since one guy told me it looked like an octopus, the final result so far is the big picture, thanks again for looking!

I prefer the orginal sketch over the finished. I realise you are new to photoshop, but watch out how far you go with filters and shadows, they ae very noticeable and come off a bit tacky.

Good start though :) keep it up

Here's a tip: watch the darkness (and flatness) of those reds. It's so close to the black you've lost a lot of line detail contrast.

Yeah, I did get carried away =) Thank you for the tips, I will definitely keep them in mind. In time and with lots of practice I hope to learn to use colors and features better =) Thanks again!

Also if the final piece has the jaw biting the words Allaince, the rest of the mouth should be visible. Alliance is also hard to read due to being hidden by the teeth.

Yeah it looks a little strange, I think it would work on a black background, then you wouldn't notice the gap in the mouth and the edges should soften up a bit. It would probably need to be lightend though
