This client originally wanted me to just recreate her awful logo so that it could be used in various vector-based applications as well as clean it up a little since it was originally hand-drawn. After going through several versions of the original concept, I got completely frustrated because everything was totally cliche and not serving her well.

So, I decided to just approach it fresh with my own take on the look. After stumbling a few times, I reviewed some of Jeff Fisher's outstanding work and was reminded to look for ways to tie the graphic element to the text. The "r" provided a natural horizon and the dot of the "i" serves as a good place to put the sun as well. From there it was just a matter of working out the details. I'm totally happy with it and the client loves it. Whaddaya think?

I like it but what was the original like?
I think Sunrise seems like it could be used for a cereal or a McDonald's type of morning advertisement or breakfast collection.

I like it. What font is that for "Sunrise"? It's driving me batty, since I think that I recognize it and can't come up with the name.

My only concern would be that the small (therapeutic) or thin (r in sunrise) parts of the text might get lost at small sizes.

Here's the orginal:

and morea, the font is Optima. Regarding the "therapeutic bodywork" line, it will more than like be dropped for anything really small as it's pretty secondary.

thanks for the comments.

haha, thanks. I think you've saved me from having an aneurism. ;)

That makes sense. I like what you've done with it.

Its called Sunrise Massage because it is located next to a strip club, then when you walk out at 5am you can go over there and get some "stress relief"....giggity

I like the logo though

I love it. Using the terminal of the R to give the sun something to rise over makes it work so well. Optima is also a nice choice, and the kerning is well done.

Very, very nice work! My only concern is that you may want to slightly fatten up the top of the 'r' a bit so it doesn't dissappear at smaller sizes. The gradients in the sun might be better off left as a solid color too so as to keep this a simple 2-color print job, but that's up to you.

Really nice job though...and 10x's better than the 'original'.
