color swatches in Illustrator CS

I'm trying to make my own colors swatches in Illustrator. How do I save them so I can load for any file?

I would create a new document and delete all the default swatches. Then, make your swatches (or copy/paste elements from another file that have those swatches). This way, only your swatches are in the swatches palette.

Then, click the little triangle in the Swatches palette, click Save Swatch Library. Give it a name, and it goes in your Swatches folder.

When you need those swatches for another file, just click that same triangle and then click Open Swatch Library... and click Other Library and pick the one you named.
