I'm interested to know what experiences you've had with free UPC/ISBN barcode generators?
I've seen websites that say you should always have your barcodes done professionally, or else purchase some software starting at $200. Is there a good reason for this, or is at all for financial gain?
This barcode generator looks good from the surface.

I'm not sure what this means.
Is there really much of a difference? If I pay $25 to have a barcode done professionally, will it be that much better to justify the price?

I use the Free app "barcode generator." it works fine for me and we test all out barcodes before they goto print.
I didn't know people pay to have individual barcodes made for them? seems kind of silly since all they do is type a number in...

wait... are you talking about buying actual barcode numbers (like from Uniform Code Council, Inc.) or just the software that turns the numbers into an actual barcode?

in my past experience with barcodes (which isn't much) Wasp was one of the better systems.

I'm talking about the barcode software itself.
RR Bowker (the company that also issues ISBN's in the United States) charges:
1 - 5 : $25 per bar code
6 - 10 : $23 per bar code
11 - 20 : $21 per bar code

We've had fuzzy jpgs of barcodes supplied by clients. They make me very very nervous.

I understand what you're saying, but that could happen regardless of how the barcode is generated. All it takes is someone to save the file in a different, low-res format.
I use Barcode Wiz. Not expensive, and it's always worked fine for me.
