Can anyone help me with this? Sorry for the questions, I'm working by myself and I can not figure this out. I need to combine paths so I can cut using a plotter.

Select two open endpoints you want to join w/ the direct selection tool (white arrow) then Object>Path>Join path or Ctrl/Apple-J.
If you want to combine two overlapping vector shapes, select both shapes, go to Window>Pathfinder, and use the Combine filter (i believe that's the official name for it)

Outline mode.
I don't know where I would be without that mode. I prefer to work in it most of the time!
