Hello to everyone.
I'm hoping someone can inform me where to find a body pattern for a Volkswagen chico / citi. I work for a company that does vehicle graphics, but we've never done a body wrap before. The reason for this one is that it's the company car, old as the mountains and a full body wrap will be cheaper than a new paint job. My problem lies in getting the correct preportions - I'm tired of balancing on the roof trying to get a good pic of the roof.
Any suggestions?

i was going to say, talk to the company doing your wrap and they'll have a template, but if you ARE the company doing your wrap... I'm not sure what to suggest? There'll be somewhere on t'internet that may have a template but they will charge you for it. Search for 'VW vehicle wrap templates' or something...
I'm curious though, what's a chico? a US model? (like the rabbit is to the golf)

How old is the car really?
A lot of the template sites don't go all the way back through the 80s yet.

Take pictures of front, back and side angles and draw it out yourself... It's only a BASIC template you need for the installer to see what goes where and all. Not like you print the outline on it, just allow for PLENTY of bleed!

The roof appears to be the problem. :D

you could try the photo way, but honestly it wont turn out "awesome" of course, if this is your first wrap, chances are it won't be turning out that way anyways.
wrapping cars is a black art, its not just slap some vinyl on and be good to go. you have to think in 3 dimensions, you have to adjust for contour curves, moldings etc.
you can contact "christian" over at pro vehicle outlines, he is basically the go to guy in this biz and if he doesn't have a template he can usually make you one. however, the cost with this is really pricey, but if you want it done right, sometimes going the extra mile will save you huge headaches on the install.

A Chico is a 1985 - 1990 hatchback model, same body as the Citi Sport, probably local to South Africa. The country seems to be the problem as well, as there are no local sites selling, and the Rand/Dollar conversion makes the American ones out of the question. (Multiply $ by aproximately 7 for the Rand total)
Thanx anyway, I'll climb the house roof again & send in pics when it's finished, regardless of the disaster level ...
