i'm designing a logo for a new start-up business - your pink ladies. it's a house-cleaning company (general household chores and ironing).

my client wants:
pink and black colours
'50s america feel (think grease's pink ladies)

i have arrived at 3 different looks and was looking for some professional feedback please. i have tried to gently incorporate the business into the logo with the house and apron icons. i've called them neon, sparkle and elegant, the first two she is pleased with and i need to develop further, the third (elegant) doesn't quite fit the bill but exudes a cosy 'tidy house' feel.

time's tight (as usual) and i've been looking at these for far too long, so i need fresh eyes! (and my girlfriend just says 'nice').

so, fire away and be as harsh as you like. thanks.

none of them get me excited. *shrugs* #2 is definately not 50's feeling at all...

3rd one looks more retro with that font... not crazy about the house tho...

yah, definately didn't see neone tubing. All I caught was a pink line in the shape of a house...

Got any sketches to show?

hmm nothing to upload at the moment. the idea was a simplified house that was instantly recognisable.

my worry was that neon is kinda lost if it isn't set against a black/dark background!

Thanks Craig. I think your last one has the most potential but I would lose the house, it looks out of place.

Thanks as well Craig. I agree with everyone else the last one has the most potential (sans house), but I think you could develop this a bit more...Take a look at some retro (50's)sites for inspiration...

I agree with the last one, except if you loose the house all together isnt it just a font? Is there any way of incorporating the house into the type?

LOL. I didn't do the logos, just to make that clear.

I just reposted them for eelovesbikestoo

:) I know Morea ... but some of the other posts sounded as if they wanted me to update or change the logo ... which I suppose I could, but it's not my job! ;)

This makes me think of a cross between the Pink Panther logo and the Bewitched logo with the star as the dot in the "i".

That's what I thought too.

I do think the last one has the most potential.

Yes, the last one without the house would just be a pretty free font from the fontdiner.com

If I was playing with this then I'd work on the first concept but make it with the 1950's shape pinny/apron that housewifes of the era wore (you know, not the chef apron, more the overly frilly apron look that screams 1950s and is rather cute and twee)

craig, many thanks for relinking the pics, not sure why the windows users couldn't see them.

looks like i've got a bit of developing to do! thanks for the feedback it will help progress the designs with a professional edge.

frankster, you're absolutley right about font diner, it was the 3rd and weakest idea, the strongest being the apron. i'll take on board your suggestion of a classic '50s pinny which is quite recognisable.

i'll post back when i've worked a bit more on them.

cheers!

hi all, following up from my initial post. we decided to totally rework the logo as the house and apron ideas weren't coming through strong enough. i liked the idea of the housemaid's apron but the text/logo/style just wouldn't come together.

this is the design we finally decided upon (through a brainwave looking at other items a cleaner would use). i was worried the black feathers might give the wrong impression but my client feels it would appeal to her female and male customers alike.

my client also had a flyer print run booked in so we had to set the logo quite quickly, but i want to develop the feathers further over the next few weeks before we start printing stationery.

again, any comments welcomed.

I like the type you've chosen, but would the word "yourpinkladies" without space between the words be a bit difficult to read without the color separating the word pink from the others?

Not sure about the feather-stuff either. First of all, I think it's a bit too detailed, and second I think it can be interpreted as feathers of a bird instead of an old school broom.

Anyway, the new concept is better than the previous ones.

thanks fredrich.

i got a good feeling when i came across this design; i haven't done much creative work for a few years and am really rusty. this idea came to me when i picked up a biro and doodled for a few minutes whilst worrying about deadlines!

yes essentially it's a concept that will evolve. the feathers will become more duster-like when i have to chance to redraw them. i wanted a clean, open and honest typeface with shallow ascenders and descenders so century gothic worked well.

your point of text colour is something i kept in mind when designing it; my answer is to supply a version of the logo for mono printing/copying. the letters 'pink' will be outlined with white fill to distinguish from the other letters.

thanks for your reply!

looks like a arrow from a bow and arrow with an overly fluffy tail feather set. hehe

I think you could go a BIT lighter on it. Pr erhaps it is just he screen making it dark?

What PANTONE color pink is that?

I think the black is too much. I think the whole thing needs to be lighter and more girly.

a good image might be a womans hand in a handcuff, chained to the sink

i jest

With the black and hot pink and the feathers I thought feather bower and hence stripper. Are these the maids you're looking for?

Not mac-impaired, just CMYK colors in your browser impaired. :D
