I've seen a different rock formation that resembles what that resembles. There's also one that resembles its counterpart.

You'll be happy to know that I showed this image to my 85-year-old grandmother, who recently moved to NYC from Slovakia. Upon viewing this rock formation, she let out a high-pitched gasp, clapped her hands to her cheeks, and cried out:

"It look like penis!"

These are the formations I was looking for earlier. They're right nearby each other on a beach on Ko Samui, Thailand, and are called the Grandfather and Grandmother stones.

Clicky. (http://www.kohsamui-hotels.org/samuiattraction.htm) Scroll down to the third entry (Hin Ta Hin Yai).

Also known as "Grandfather and Grandmother rocks"; entirely formed by the elements, two extraordinarily accurate male and female genitalia-shaped rock formations share a perch overlooking the sea.

Uh... if they look like genitalia, are grandparents the people you want to bring to mind?

So I did a search and it seems that people look for these kinds of formations or a least recognise them for what they are all over the world. Maybe since the beginning of mankind :)
