Thanks guys. I've given myself the best birthday present possible - a few days holiday. And tomorrow I'm going shopping for a new computer. The old eMac just ain't cutting it anymore.

Happy Birthday Hewligan! What kind of computer are you getting.

hewligan
10-12-2007, 01:52 AM
Well, I'm posting this from my brand new iMac!

It's the old model 20-inch, so I got it really cheap. Plus, it means I don't get one of those new keyboards that I really don't like the look of. Plus, it's a more powerful model than I could have afforded from the new range.

Sweet on the new mac Hewli. Where did you get it out of curiousity?

I'm not getting a new computer anymore :( We've decided we need to save around $20,000 for an overseas trip by next year so any big spends are out of the equation. So I'll have to experience my big purchases through you guys on here.

As for pickled eggs, that's disgusting. Never had one but the concept grosses me out. If an egg is a hen's period, you can take your pickled hen's periods and shove it.

AlexNJ210
10-12-2007, 02:18 AM
period????? What version of ole MacDonald's Farm did you hear when you were a kid?????

budafist
10-12-2007, 02:44 AM
Well we used to call them abortions, but that's not correct because the eggs aren't fertilised. Therefore they are periods. Delicious, but periods.

AlexNJ210
10-12-2007, 02:49 AM
yes they are fertilised, they are just taken out of incubation and refrigerated at the right time whereby the embryo dies but is kept in a state of preservation, remaining edible. Damn you did have a strange teaching of ole' McDonald.

hewligan
10-12-2007, 02:51 AM
Got the computer at Bond & Bond.

Damn but it's speedy compared to my poor old eMac (which is currently sitting next to it, feeling inadequate, while I transfer files).

And I won't be spending all my time on the computer. I'm going out to the pub with some friends tonight, and I'm going over to my parents tomorrow. Then, with the time I've taken off work, I'll have 3 days for me and the new machine to become acquainted :D

hewligan
10-12-2007, 03:59 AM
It's pretty sweet so far. I'm rapidly falling in love with Front Row and the Apple Remote.

And it turns out that Safari's not a bad browser on a computer this fast (it was painfully slow on the old eMac). Still, they'll have to pry Opera out of my cold, dead hands ;)

I'm glad I'm going out tonight, though - I am beginning to get bored with installing the bazillion applications I consider necessary. Not the best part of getting a new computer, that.

urstwile
10-12-2007, 04:08 AM
Yeah, the bazillion application thing is a drag, but you'll be fat and happy when you're all done. Congrats. :)

Nope!

The rooster (http://www.ext.vt.edu/resources/4h/virtualfarm/poultry/poultry_fertilized.html#) must be present for an egg to be fertilized (http://www.ext.vt.edu/resources/4h/virtualfarm/poultry/poultry_fertilized.html#). Most eggs that you buy at the supermarket are from hens (http://www.ext.vt.edu/resources/4h/virtualfarm/poultry/poultry_fertilized.html#) that are raised without a rooster being present. Roosters are not necessary at egg farms where eggs are produced for consumption. Eggs for incubation are grown at special farms called breeder farms where roosters are present with the hens.

Unfertilised eggs leave the hens body just as women's unfertilised eggs leave our body. Period! Bugaaaack!!

Unless of course you buy free range eggs - those might be fertilised.
