Dare I Ask ???

Having just read "Sticky" Thread 10/10/07 I dont even know if Im in right place so all you guys out there who are reading this- if any- please forgive me. First of all I respect all talented workman be it dancer, designer or dentist, but I am a bit lost and alone in a great big of world and my request is not just a lets see what I can get for free, it is purely an out and out request for guidance.

I am notparticularly computer minded which doesnt help but have searched and searched the web as such to find a graphic of a book cover, similar to a Lord of Rings Style one, Fairy Tale or Mystical type thing, nothing too grand or over the top, as simple as possible really. I want to just make it my front page and it doesnt have to do anything except let me type the name of my directory on it and allow me to add an animated gif (just one) - see Itoldyou I was on the basic end of the line..........

Can anyone point me in the best direction at least, I have typed in lots of synonyms for the above and am getting no where, I have the picture in my head so alternatively if someone has a method of transfer for this without surgery I would also be appreciative.

It is a damsel in distress request and Ive gone to the top, in the hope that although I know you dont and should not offer your services for free someone will have a good answer for me which is in english and also does not laugh me off this site before I even get my website going.

As the format of the rest of the website is fairly basic the design also needs to be quite simple as if it stands out a mile and looks really fabulous, everyone would be disappointed when they click the front page-

If anyone has any help to offer, I would be very grateful and am sincerely trying this as a shot in the dark, before I turn grey and will be remembered as the person who nearly got there but not quite!

Hi Helen, welcome to the forum. :)

For your image, have you checked out Deviant Art? I bet you can find something you like on there. You could then work it out with the designer as to usage rights. I'm not sure what search terms to suggest.

If you could be a little more specific about your site, what software you are using to build it etc. I'm sure our web people could suggest some tutorials and such to help you.

That website contains free high resolution digital stock photography for either corporate or public use so feel free to have a look around there using your own search terms.

Hi thanks for reply - I know I didnt make it very clear.........I actually am looking for "the book itself" design like something out of disney film (thats the closest I can get - "the talking book" or a design I can add text/colour to etc...Just for a front webpage which is a directory- it doesnt have to do anything flash and thought a graphic with kind of ornate border or something like a medieveal type record book cover- I dont know if photo shot would work like if I took one of a book in the library I kind of liked the idea of a graphic - any help ???? Thanks

Hi thanks for reply - yes they would have been perfect - unfortunately not for use, feel like the donkey with the carrot! I would have been happy though with a graphic as opposed to photograph, is there anything else out there on that line, many thanks -
