Does anybody know of a Program for Mac that tracks time spent in aplications and can give you a report about your days activity? We have manually tracking our time and we keep forgetting, so it would be great if we can find something automated that would do the trick...

I know that FileMaker Pro does this. But it is a pricey program...

I'd think it'd be even more helpful to know how much time was spent with each file (thereby allowing you to track jobs seperatly) unless each person you want to track only has one project on their plate at a time.

We don't use one here, but I know a guy who does. It's OS 9 though, so
probably of no long term use. Post back and I'll find out for you. Have you tried
Version Tracker or the MacLife forums yet? I'm sure you could find
something like that in either place.

Along Thomas' suggestions, check macupdate (http://www.macupdate.com/search.php?arch=all&keywords=time+track&os=macosx). I haven't used any of them. But you can maybe dig through the list and see if any sound as if they may do what you need.

Thanks very much! I checked them all, about 40 in all and found what I was after: it's called Active Timer, it's freeware, simple and just runs in the background recording the active windows. AND it tells you what individual files you have worked on and for how long. SIMPLE! it's freeware too, some Uni student came up with it to track his final project. It is really accurate, and I can export it into Xcell. I NEVER HAVE TO ENTER IN A MANUAL TIMESHEET AGAIN!!
Thankyou all for your help!

Active Timer is a good thought, but gets pretty nuts if you're trying to track time on one project. It will record EVERYTHING you open to create the piece - including style editors, "open" dialogs, etc.
We use TimeSlice 'round here. http://www.timeslice.us/
