Is it possible to create a gradient that goes from COLOR to TRANSPARENT? Say for example I have a square. I want to apply a radial gradient that starts in the center as red and just fades into transparent. How do I rig this up? Thx!

Opacity mask.
Have your circle a solid color, put a black and white gradient shape over top of it. Select both shape and garident (make sure gradient it on top!!!) Go to you Tranparency palatte and click on the drop down options and select "Make Opacity Mask". and BOOM! your all done...
^ how I do it in CS3.

K i got mine made (thanks for the sweet lil tut)... but now my question is this: it seems to have turned my new shape into a gradient itself. I'm creating a png file so that the 'outside' edge (the gradient) is transparent, so that it will blend well on any color tshirt. I guess that won't work this way right?

Radial gradient. Light center to black outside on top of your colored shape.
When/if printing it on a shirt it will look like ass cause of the 'fade'...

Depending on how good your t-shirt printer is, you can "fake the fade" by using rasterbator (http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/) to turn your gradient into a good dot pattern.
A coworker did it on a shirt and had really good results.
