Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Realplayer shortcuts
Hi! I've updated Realplayer to version 11,
and the shortcut to pause is "ctrl+p", I'd like to change as it was in the previous version, the "space" key.
I can't figure it out, how to change the shortcut defaults.
thanks,
fredrich

Google and install real-alternative. Get that invasive junk program off your system, it'll improve your entire standard of living. It's the secret to happiness.

I've always hated it as well. I didn't know there was an alternative program, good to know JP! :)

Same goes for that horrible Mac player also. What's it called? Sicktime? Something like that.

The weird thing is, Quicktime on a Mac is actually a fairly good media player. The Windows version is, though, an appalling piece of junk. Honestly, it's almost like Apple are trying to punish people with the Windows versions of their software (I can't stand iTunes on any platform, but the Windows version is much, much worse). If that's there intention, then having used the Windows versions of much of their software, they've succeeded admirably :D

All I really mind is the invasiveness of the 2 programs. Anything that has ANY process running when the program isn't, I uninstall, immediately, and wipe out it's reg entry. Actually I create a restore point before I install ANYTHING, so if I don't like it, it's a simple matter to rollback.
That's why I dont have QT, RP, or Adopey acridcrap on my PCs

Yeah:
VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu)
Play anything. Don't put up with crap.

Depends.
I'll usually install them both. I probably use VLC by default, simply because the interface is a lot simpler. But I have yet to find any one video player that will play absolutely everything, but between them, those two cover as near to everything as you could possibly ask for.
Also, mPlayer comes with mEncoder, which if you're not afraid of the command line, is the most powerful video transcoding tool I've ever come across.
For a project at work recently we had a couple of hundred video files in a variety of formats (as they came from different sources). We needed all of them as 3gp files, for distributing to mobile phones, flv files, as our testing suggested that was going to be the most convenient format for web distribution, and we also needed a jpg screencap from each of them for selection on our website.
The videos, as well as being in a variety of formats, were also in a variety of pixel sizes, all of which were too big for any of our final output uses.
mEncoder and a shell script meant I got to walk away and leave one of our servers to it for a couple of hours. Came back and it was all sorted.
