Just placed my order of internet at my place and I need to supply my own cable router. I's like to go wireless with this since I have a laptop. Does anyone know of any good wireless cable routers? I know there is Linksys, but there has to be something for the same price that is better quality out there.

anyone?

PS - The provider is Comcast, if that makes a difference.

Funny, i just decided to switch from satelite and slow dial up (I know, but it was a free deal from my dad) to cable and they said I needed a router for my second puter, I was wondering the same thing...my Dad has a linksys. I'll look into Belkin.

Linksys seems to work okay for my dad, I'm using it now.

I know the Apple Airport Extreme is a really good one, and it now works w/ Mac and PC.

I had thought about this, but it is a bit pricey. But I am on a Mac so no need to worry about Mac to PC compatability. Aas long as it work with Macs I am fine, all my neighbors can suck a big one.... No moochers here! haha

Gonna go by Best buy later and pick their brains. Talked to the camble guy again and he said it has to be a Cable Modem and router all in 1 unit. So this is my bigges worry right now.... Man I wish I was more tech savy! heh

I am one of those "*holds box out* buy this, it will work" tech guys.... heh

Here is the Cable Modem I have:

and have this wireless router connected to it:

I never have problems with either.

I looked all over bestbuys site for a combo unit and couldn't find anything.. sorry.

Thanks for all input guys and gals. Much appreciated! I decided to go with the Motorola - SURFboard Cable Modem (SB5101) and the Apple AirPort Express for my router. Can't go wrong with apple roducts! Sure I paid more, but I didn't seem to mind on this purchase!

Thanks again

Ckret ... make sure you set up WEP or whichever security your wireless router supports; it will keep your wireless sessions secure and keep nieghbors from hijacking your service.

oh, generally you can get to the setup screen by loggin onto the router using the ip address 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.15 (one of these should be stated in your manual). generally speaking you should be asked to login for the first time, the username should be "admin" with the password blank or with the password as "admin" also. make sure you change the defaults once you are logged in. Some require you also be logged into this screen while connected directly to the router via a cat 5 cable, and they wont let you log in while connected via wireless (again this depends on the router).

Hope this helps also :)

One thing I have had to do very rarely when I had an Airport Express was reboot, which is more than I can say for the Linksys I got now. I didn't want to get an Airport Extreme (need the ethernet hub/ports) up until now as they didn't have gigabit ethernet on them, but I heard that Apple updated the model recently which fixes this. So if money loves me again at some point, I'll probably pick that guy up.

I had a LinkSys Modem and a great Motorola Wireless Router. Motorola has also been pretty easy to use to set-up, as GraphixNPrint has said.
