My wife and I went on our first vacation in three years earlier this month. Here's some great photos from Nice, Florence, Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and Polermo.

Hmmm...I might have to go there next year on my journey around the world. Love the last shot on the first page. Those buildings are way cool. Hmmm...I can imagine I would get a very sore neck walking around these places from constantly looking up at the cool architecture.

I made good use of my new 7 megapixel digital camera, that's for sure.
The architecture is amazing. And standing in the Sistine Chapel for 15 minutes was breathtaking. I don't have a lot of appreciation for the Vatican, considering I'm Jewish, but the history behind it all was incredible.

Great photos. With this current vacation being our third to Italy in eight years I find I'm taking much fewer photos and wanting to play tourist less. Enjoyed the Nice photos - heading to Paris and the south of France in 2010.

Thanks, Jeff. My wife and I discovered the Marc Chagall museum when trying to figure out what to do in Nice, with everything being closed on the Sunday we were there. It was a great find that we just happened to stumble on in a "What to do in Nice" pamphlet when we arrived at port. A very nice museum, which lets you photograph the work! I have photos that are postcard-worthy.
Pompeii was an excellent tour that I found fascinating. To see the images in the well-preserved brothel was alarming. :)
This being my first time overseas, it was quite an experience. With Europe being so photogenic, and having a 2 GB SD card, I couldn't resist going nuts with the shutter. Being a novice photographer came through in some shots. The two with the flowers outside the cathedral in Sicily still remind me that I do have an eye for composition. :)
I highly recommend taking a Mediterranean cruise if it's your first time to southern Europe. It's extremely convenient to book all-inclusive excursions through the cruise line and get a healthy sampler of each city you visit. We used Royal Caribbean (our 2nd cruise with them) and loved every minute. We now know, if we ever want to visit Italy again, we know which cities we would spend more time in.
One day we'd like to visit Paris and London, but I'm sure that would delay our starting a family another year. We thought this would be our big trip before starting one, but this was so much fun, we'll see...
