So... Keyare's an idiot.

I've been making really cheap bumper stickers for a long time on a colour laser printer or photocopier with plain old glossy paper (adhesive). But have been trying to find something more durable that comes in 11x17" for a long time.

I got some clear mylar from a sign shop that comes in a roll - i cut it down to 11x17 and it works great. Except the adhesive leaking out the sides tends to destroy imaging units rather quickly.

I can't find white. I tried vinyl. That was stupid. Did you know that it melts up into a sticky mess inside the photocopier?

It seems that everything made for the sign industry melts in a photocopier.

Anyway. Anyone know of a outdoor durable - adhesive-backed medium that will not melt in a photocopier that's not clear or silver? That comes in flat sheets of 11x17 that doesn't leak adhesive out the sides when squeezed?

I might have found some polyester - but am scared of it melting too.

ummm have you just tried plain adhesive backed vinyl?? I have stickers from yrs ago when I worked at my last job. I just printed them out, stuck some laminate on it to protect the ink, and trimeed em out. I know that you can't order it direct on a roll, but the manufacturers names are 'GBC' & 'Mactac' so if you call around to some supply places and ask for that kind of adhesive backed vinyl they should be able to help you. You will still probably have to trim out the 11 X 17' sheets though. hope that helps ya out......hey by the way, how do you put stickers on a UFO?

Yah - plain vinyl melts. And laminating a paper one - well, water can get in on the sides and destroy it. I looked on mactac's site and what looks promising won't frigging load. I'll wait a while...

Strickers on a UFO - mmm... with a ladder.

Everything made for the sign industry melts if you leave it in the sun too long, let alone a photocopier or laser printer.
Checking.
We been looking for something that we can dye-sub onto also that won't melt when it goes thru the heat unit. Fabrics work, naturally, but a vinyl would be slick.

Um, Don't the stickers spin off your UFO or is that why you need a steady supply of cheap ones?

Orca type lammer?

Not hot enough. Ever try to touch the heating element in a laser printer (or do it by mistake getting that nicely folded accordian paper jam outta there?). Dye sub is 400+ degrees.

Only thing I saw on the web was something that said it was polyester but then was described as paper. Avery Dennison affiliate.
Will ask around at work. Not holding breath.

Why does my brain keep coming back to dye sub and low-temp thermal image transfers like t-shirt things. How hot you gotta get that stuff to make the image transfer and can you do it with vinyl? We did it with wood once. STINK!

yeah - I got a whole case of t-shirt transfer material that I never use because they suck. Ironing onto wood works but vinyl melts.

Ah. Teslin.
