Photoshop CS3 Guides - Auto Purple Ones

I was using PS CS3 on a different machine and it had this setting on where as you moved layers around it would pop up these purple guides that would show you where you can line up things. These would pop up automatically and let you "snap" things to certain areas. This was a minor annoyance at first but now I want it on my home computer. I can't find the setting to change this.

Anyone seen these?

Is that what they're called? I had always just used regular guides.

smart guides came out in Illy 9 I think... they should be the same in PS CS3 ... under View>Smart Guides
