An agency has recently seen my work and asked me to take in my book in and have a chat.
...er...i dont have a portfolio/book. Ive been working inhouse at a company for about 5 years now and quite happily chugging along. Now i have to sell myself...to be honest i wouldnt be happy putting most work i do at work in a portfolio...some i would but not a lot.
So i need some help quick smart to get a portfolio together. what should i be aiming to show nowadays...i wide range of stuff or just the stuff im best at.
im thinking of saying listen i dont have a book but i can do you a pdf of my work...do you think thats acceptable.

put together a book of your 10-20 best pieces, the best in the front and work back

So then just politily decline them the offer. Then again doing a portfolio now and then updating it ever 3 months would be a good thing as well. Then you are on top of it and won't ever have to worry about scrambling for one should the need arrise.
Initial upfront cost is normally the most expensive. Updating it from that point on is really cheap!

haha, sorry.
They've seen your work. I think they just want to see a few other peices. But the call to come in is to meet you and see your personality. You can do amazing work, but if you aren't theire 'style' and don't mesh with their current employees it wouldn't work out for either one of you too. The portfolio is just a bridge to give you something to tlak about, learn how you come up with ideas, and how your present yourself...

Note to self: Keep portfolio update in case headhunters ever come calling.

misx and match
Look at the agency's work and place work in your portfolio that best matches their approach and/or style.
I had a similar thing happen were I was called in after they viewed my work online. However, since they viewed my work I brought in a process book and we didn't even get that far before they hired me for the position. However, if they are asking specifically for a book I'd create one.
