Pancaking college departmental websites.... !!!!!!!!!!

I'm redoing the dept of bio sci's website (for wright state university) and I worked my rear end off doing this new design (the design wasn't as hard as was the THOT process that went into it -- trying to organize and structure an entire departmental website for a large college is a pancaking bio-tch (hehe)). At any rate, I went 'live' last nite, still have a bunch of kinks to work out, and I'm already hearing the whining....

(for large monitors, the site isn't 'full screen') ---- 'What's this space out here? Why aren't we using it?' (and remember, this from the same person who would say 'Oh, you have to scroll it, that's no good' if it was TOO big for a smaller monitor...)

(out of the millions of links and sections of the site, one link didn't work) --- 'You do know that not all the links work, right?'


And it's only been half a day with the site live now! I try and ask for *direction* for the structure of the site from the Dept Chair and the Office Mgr, and I get things like 'well, it would be nice to have a flashing link on the front page that goes to.........' /emoticons/jumpin.gif /emoticons/blowingup.gif /emoticons/violent.gif I'm tellin ya.... these Biology people.....

Well, I'll just reiterate what I've already said to you...I think the design looks great. I know you feel underappreciated there which is hard to swallow but you have put in a lot of work and it shows. Hopefully CE will keep growing and if you so choose, you won't have to have that job. Just keep plugging on, you're doing good! AA is happy! :)

I like the site tho...nice top header. And LOVE the frog at the bottom right! Nice touch. Screw them...they need to give some input or they can shut the fk up :o)

other than that, you've just got to educate and be patient. people will always ask questions - i'll bet they don't know how frustrating they're being. and everyone's just got to get their money's worth and make sure they're not getting ripped off by their designer...

just press the 'fix it all quick' button in dreamweaver. problem solved.

AAAAHHHHHH --- Ok so I forgot the link on the menu to go to the WSU main homepage.... (How hard was it to add since I'm using SSI for the menus?) And then I hear 'Well there's no LOGO TO CLICK' OMG the pancaking link must not work the same way!!!!!!!!!!!' Now I'm getting my ass ripped.... I told the office manager THERE WILL BE A DAY OR TWO OF DOWNTIME for SOME of the pages while I UPLOAD the new ones.......... (because I had to overwrite everything on the server and since stupid WSU uses all kinds of weird redirects and masked domains and stuff, I *have* to UL and test where it's going to be). Now I'm getting accused of 'abandoning my work' and some other stupid crap..... I'm VERY close to quitting.
