I'm curious about the results I see on various Whois domain search results I see when I look up my own domains. On the main Whois.net site I see my current owner info, but on a few others I see old contact info that should be updated by now.
Is this up to each individual site running domain search results and how often they update their records? I'm hating seeing outdated information listed with my domains.

Just an FYI that about a week after I posted this I checked my domain search results again on a few different websites and all my info was updated and current. Some domain search sites just take longer than others to update their records.

Differnt whois utilities and ISP's have cache's set to their own specific intervals. This is why when you make changes to your information (ESPECIALLY DNS changes) that you take into account that you should allow up to 5 days for it to populate world wide.
If you move a site to a different host for example, you want to leave the old site up for an extra week until the DNS info populates, or else someone trying to go to your site from a DNS cache'd ISP will get that dreadful site cannot be found error.
