Threading in Indesign

Hi there, I'm in dire need of some advice. Is it possible in indesign to have a series of threaded text frames, but have each frame have it's own character style.
In essence I'm looking to paste one block of text into the threaded frames but when they flow into the different frames they automatically change into the relevant font style and size designated to that particular frame?

If i can avoid having to select all the text in each frame and apply a character style all the better.

You could assign object styles that reference different paragraph styles, but I couldn't get it to work while the frames were still threaded.
