I created a graphic in AI, made a symbol, made a blend from the symbol, and made a new brush. Piece-a-cake.

I did a Save As and used the same graphic with some color and gradient changes, did the same thing I always do (see above), but it blocks me from making the new brush saying there's an element in the graphic that can't be made into a brush.

I've tried numerous variations and work-arounds to see if I can eliminate this anomaly, but it ain't woykin.

Does anyone have another way of making a new brush, or have any troubleshooting suggestions? I've got five projects on my desk this weekend and this puppy's piddling all over my productivity!

Thank you. I'm going to go hunt for some protein. Does beer have protein?

I'm not above cheap bribes!:D

Okay, so just to elaborate, I have of course tried all the known alternatives and easier routes to do this... I'm wondering if there's a workaround, essentially.

This could be just another anomalous CS2-Intel hissy fit.

Anyhoo, thanks in advance for any suggestions or thoughts.

Well, you can't use a gradient in a brush. If you have any gradients, you need to replace it with a blend.

Yep, that's what I did, and it worked on a previous one. Probably wasn't clear enough in my first sentence. Sorry about that.

Did you create the gradient as a blend, or did you just expand appearance on the gradient you created? Because expand appearance on gradients seems to create some clipping paths (that were entirely unnecessary in the ones I tested with - but that's probably not always the case). You can't have a clipping path in a brush, either.

Created as a blend.

With my luck lately, the first one was a fluke! Or, I was just destined to run around in circles today (no wonder I feel dizzy).

Thanks for the Sherlocking, hewligan. Appreciate it.

Back to the grindstone for me!
