The first thing you should do is see your doctor or the doctor on campus. You may have a medical condition that is making you tired. I have an unusually bad case of hypothryoidism that is full of bizarre symptoms. Often times, doctors will overlook the thyroid, but if your thyroid is messed up, it can really disrupt your life, as well as your other body systems. The thyroid has a hand in just about every body system that we have going on. To have your thyroid tested is only a simple blood test. To have your thyroid corrected entails taking a pill everyday and having your blood tested once or twice a year. I always seem to be having my blood tested and my medication adjusted but my situation is not the norm. The thyroid is also a gland that can change over time. If you tested negative for the disease in the past, that doesn't mean that you would still test negative.
Here's a link for you to check symptoms against. Hypothyroidism is the label given to an underactive thyroid. Hyperthyroidism (referred to as Graves Disease in the United States) is the label given to an overactive thyroid. I hope its not your thyroid, but if it is, it one of those diseases that if you get a handle on it then you will experience minimal disruption of your daily routine. Good luck!

What was your 12 hour job before? If it was a lot of physical work, I'm probably 50% sure it's the lack of exercise to keep your body going. The nasty habit of sitting through college classes without any forced Phys Ed course really hurts your metabolism. If your campus has a gym, which they more than likely should, USE it. Mix it up with strength training and ESD...not only will you keep in shape, but the ESD will keep you energized throughout the day. Don't overdo it, take a sensible plan to give yourself a tough day here or there and average difficulty days; most people who crash on workout programs try to do too much at first and follow 'More's Law' to excess, where more is not always better.
Also, what is your diet like (this is the other 50%)? Because if you're eating crappy foods, drinking alcohol a lot, etc., then that will certainly have an effect. Soda of almost any kind is pretty much bad.
One thing about using 'your creative side' too much, is that I heard that lots of right brain thinkers who have to come up with ideas and such tend to exhaust their minds quicker, and they need rest to recover from it. Maybe that's Captain Obvious talking, or maybe I'm completely off base, take it FWIW, but that sounds reasonable if it's rather infrequent.

..axcept caffeine and nicotine.
That'll do it right there. Weed out the caffeine as much as possible, and try your best w/ nicotine (can't say from personal experience how much of an effect that can have).

Well, the nicotine itself won't usually make you tired... but that's not all you get from cigarette smoke. In particular, the carbon monoxide will lower your blood oxygen level and make you sleepy.
Still, I live on coffee and tobacco, so what do I know? :D
