I just recently got a logo project that I am excited about. I got it from an unlikely place that normally generates weak leads with people that don't value the marketing power graphic design can provide. Not this time, I got a client that could appreciate our trade just like the business he was trying be involved in working. We talked about his logo and how to do pricing. He said that it was suggested to do a contest and I was able to use No-Spec dialog and tools I have read from this site. I felt like a true professional.
Well I must have been. He got an offer to do his logo for way cheaper than I was offering. However, he chose me over this lo-baller because I was professional and he chose my services. I didn't have to come down and I got what I wanted out of it. So this is the start and the roses smell good. I hope this job does require too much ferterlizer but works the way the process can work.
Thanks GDF for helping with some of the tools I was able to employ on the business side of freelancing. Each job is always different but it helps when you do things the right way. Wish me luck. Hopefully you'll will also give me good feed back if I can post as I go along designing.
