It looks like PayPal changed their logo.
Old logo:

The fonts seem to have a smoother edge, and other than the color shift, it's not very different.
I wonder if all the fake PayPal/eBay things passed around the web contributed to the desire for a new logo, but one that is close enough to the original that it doesn't make people think it's fake.
It's interesting to see a logo associated with "trustworthy and safe" for online purchases for so long. What happens to that trust they've built up when they change their logo (as subtle as it is)?
It's a good example to any potential client how important a logo is to a business. Think of what happens to brand identity when people misuse it for fraud.
