So my fancy new aluminium keyboard is giving me electric shocks.

It's not all the time, mostly when I go away and come back to my desk.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm guess this is one of the reasons why keyboards aren't usually made of metal!!!

I don't want to give it up because it's too beautiful.

I've always wished there was a keyboard that zapped the designer when they are doing something wrong.... You mean they finally came out with one???

So, nylon carpets, huh?

You're building up a static charge walking around somehow, and the zap you get's when it earths into that fancy metallic keyboard. I knew there was a reason why I didn't want one...

Hmm...could be the carpet indeed. If I wear tin foil slippers will that help? Can I just wear my tin foil hat anyway?

You should always wear your tinfoil hat. Otherwise, the aliens will be able to read your brain.

i have a VERY large problem with static, i don't know what's going on...
i drive my car, i get huge shocks... i touch metal at work, i get huge shocks... i go shopping and get shocks off the trolley and shelves... turn on/off the telly, get a shock... hug people, get a shock... stroke my parents cat and we both get shocks... i've hurt my girlfriend when we've kissed before too :(
and i'm not talking about a little crackle... i mean a huge blue spark.
I have to earth myself before i fill up with petrol because i'm worried in case it ignites something!!
I've tried different shoes, different clothes and different carpets seem to make no difference either. I'm baffled.
I've not been lucky to go near a new mac tho... but am worried in case i short it out now... hooray for the white plastic macs! lol

lucky chap. It's only 3pm here, and I have a feeling it's going to be a long rest-of-the-day. Fortunately, there are doritos to keep my company. ;)

Me too, except I don't get shocked. I litterally am a human battery. I've thrown shocks so powerful to numb peoples hands. :( I can even flash a flashlight light bulb.

When I worked on an electrical assemblyline, I de-hooked from the anti-static bracelet and when I came back from break I tested myself on an ohlm meter. Normal people will make it jump and spike then settle down between 50-80. I registered a constant 450+ - no spike, just a steady number. That amount of resistance lets me store a decent amount of energy in my body.

I can throw an arc up to about 4 inches. If it's dark, I can really make a light show. What's really odd is during the winter when it's nice and dry, I can litterally use my own hand to make my hair raise up. (funny little human trick eh?)

lol.

Buda, you could always trade with your coworker - maybe he'll get faster with electro-therapy.

Lol. This thread reminds me of being eight years old and the classroom having a nylon carpet, so all the kids would dance like Carlton Banks on speed and then lick thier finger and stick it in someone elses ear when they weren't looking. There is somthing to be said in situations like these for being the saddo kid with the inch thick rubber soled jesus sandals.

Now that is scarey! Never thought about that before. You better stay well away from the new Apple keyboard.

That is so clever Mo. I swear your talents are wasted with all those hours spent on here! Bette Midler look out!

That is crazy. What can you do with it? Surely you can harness it somehow? Does it mean you can charge your mobile phone by talking into it?

Now there's a thought but I love the look of the new keyboard too much to hand it over to St. Inky. I'll just have to learn to be a bit more masochistic.

I can shoot a poisoness gas from my bum!

But my wife....her powers rock the earth...she can TELL me what I'm thinking. Its amazing. I'll be just lounging on the couch minding my own business and she uses her slient eyebeams to burn into my mind its time to do the dishes! I don't know how she does it!!!

Drazan can you charge my ipod for me, usb is broke :P

hehe, no I can't. But I could probably fix it - if it's not the board that broke. (Advantage of working in electrical assembly for the first few years.)

DM, I think many women have the powers your wife has :)

I've got this power to know where my boyfriend has misplaced something. Even if it's in a corner of the house under a bunch of things.
