I'm REALLY stumbling on this logo for our charity. Rie (teamropingal) gave me an excellent mock up, but it won't mesh well with the site, which I can change the site if need be. The key thoughts here are:
-modern
-incorporate both children (for st judes) and golf (for the tournament)
-be easy to use in screenprinting and embroidery, especially one color.
Any suggestions at all? I am just hitting brick walls left and right. I'm much better
at complex images than simplistic ones or branding. For more info on the charity...

(the site is currently being redesigned now)
I like the particle effects posted in the techniques thread but for some reason my AI won't blend properly so I can't even attempt it. Any thoughts are appreciated!

How about a silhouette of an adult leaning over a child teaching him to swing a club?

Hey PD, you mean like vandalism.... oh I get you, a GOLF club.
SubDriver you don't have many options, maybe something like a crest (Like royal crests. There's a good connection, some old golf clubs had crests and so did saints, never heard of St. Judes though). Anyway just an idea. I would be quite reluctant to use any type of image of a child.
Or take a completely different path:
A silhouette of a kid caddying for his dad, saying 'I'm bored, can we go home now... I need the toilet.'
How about Crazy Golf... kids love Crazy Golf... damn I love Crazy Golf and I'm 20... that one with the windmill is bloody hard.

Golfing with kids? I would think they might be heavy.

Ah ha ha.
But I think SDW is looking for something serious. This is in memory of her pa, right?

LOL...was good for a laugh anyhow! After a bad week, an extremely bad day, and a 1600 meter swim, a smile was great medicine!
Yup...serious...the charity is in memory of my late father. I do like the crest idea and I also like the idea of an adult and a child. Unfortunately, I seem to have struck out on making one work. I have some renewed zeal to work on it tomorrow...if I ever make it out of bed! LOL Pedicure isn't going to happen like I'd hoped since I couldn't find a sitter so I'll have plenty of house cleaning and design time to work. A good thing too since my sis' book hits barnesandnoble.com tomorrow and I HAVE to get this reader cd done like last month. Is it obvious I'm under pressure?! LOL

Crap.
What about animals? Cartoon gopher playing? Or will the Caddyshack folks sue you?
Or maybe a happy kid with a golf club.

silhouette. big person, little person & flag/golf hole thingme.
and, if it's rendered sympathetically, nobody will think it's a man, a midget and an odd-shaped wind-sock.

Or just do a text logo. You just need a nice font like Garamond (yes it actually looks good in a logo). Add some elegance to it cause your site says more hi-class then anything.

Graphic Design Heroes! Call me Captain Type Caster. I’ve fought off “The Evil Cosmic Sans” for year but it seems “Dr. Extreme Untalent” keeps bringing him back. I must find a way to defeat this evil creature.
Capt. Creative bring me those comps…

Arrr! Here's yer Illustration - of a small child, years from playing the game, standing unsteadily, leaning with its weight on a 5-iron - the club-head upward forming a tripod with the club and his own unsure legs, the child's tiny hands clasping the club shaft, looking outward to the viewer and giddy with laughter at the accomplishment of standing with the help of the unseen golfer whose club made it possible for him to climb upward...
Now all you have to do is make it so.

Thanks all...maybe I can get something cranked out over the weekend. I love the idea of a tot using a club to stand up. How cute!
