Seeking Design Help

If you have read my intro post you know that I am the CEO of an e-commerce (real estate) company. I'm actually looking for someone who can help make my yard sign idea come to life. It's extremely simple but I am no pro or even novice at design. I have it drawn up and scanned as a .jpeg and was hoping to find someone nice enough to help me design it for free. The site is not live yet and I am not making any money with it else I would be more than willing to pay for the services.

If anyone is interested or knows of someone who can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks everyone.:)

seriously, this is incredibly insulting to our profession. This is how we earn a living, and your appreciation doesn't pay the bills.

The registration agreement for this forum specifies that requests for free work are not allowed here. It is also written - in bold - in several places on the forum itself. Kind of nervy, and a bit of a slap in the face to everybody here.

I appreciated this quote from MD in response to a request for free work:

Goodness me! Look, just sit back for a moment and ask yourself if you have ever asked for anything for free for your business before? Have you even asked freinds to do something for your business for free? (not offering them anything even bartering/flowers/drinks/favours in return) ,let alone asked for a service for free from a group of proffesionals that you have never even met? You have probably not had the gall to ask anyone to do something for your business for free before because you acknowledge that it is very cheeky indeed. Why on earth do you feel that it is acceptable to ask graphic designers who are strangers to work for you for nothing?

it really wasn't either. we get a cue in the mod section before it even goes live to the site. we usually just ban there and the users never see all the spam we clean up. i figured its been a while since we have had fun with one of these, so i let it slip through the cue and approved it.

Absolutely! If you, the business owner don't believe in your own business enough to save some money or get a loan to start a business, why should anyone else believe in your business? Don't even bother the rest of the world with your half assed attempt to make your mark.

Why is that? I totally agree, but is there a psychology behind it?

Why does it kill our soul when clients asks for hideous design yet it's so freeing when we get to insert as many hideous design motifs into one piece when we're not being paid for it?

Perhaps because the web is such an intangible thing you are all having problems getting people to believe that 24k of file is really worth all that money. :p

Now if the guy went to a sign shop to get his lawn signs, would he expect the sign guy to design and print it for free? Don't think so. Why is web any different?

this morning I walked out of my house and there was a taxi waiting to take me to the office.
Someone had been in overnight and painted the place - looks real nice

then someone knocked on the door - coffee and cakes! fantastic

three designers arrived and started on all the work we have - they come in every day - I'm not sure who they are but they do great work

just when I was thinking of making a call someone threw a mobile phone in through my window - it landed right on my desk!!

at lunchtime I went out onto the street and some guy just stopped his van - opened the back doors and he had a whole like mobile kitchen thing in the back - he sat me down right there and served me a steak the like of which it has been a very long time since I had experienced (actually that's not really true - just about everyday someone feeds me for free and it's always great) . The funny thing is that today some guy saw me there eating and reached down into his bag and upulled out this amazing bottle of wine - went down a treat.

Had a quick catnap - only way to digest the meal - and then went back to the office and worked for an hour on the For Sale board.

Would have sent it through too - but we don't do free gigs

Got to go - sorry - the taxi is here to take me home.....
