Hi-

its been awhile since i have posted, i was wondering if any of you had any recommendations on how to learn flash effectively and fairly quickly.

Im already well trained in using illustrator/photoshop/quark/indesign. So i have a background in design.

i dont really have time to take a class, as it interferes with my work, so will need to be doing this on my own.

thoughts, suggestions?

i highly suggest running through a http://www.lynda.com video tutorial...beginner and then advanced. They have a great way of teaching - and a one month subscription is so worth it!

I also HIGHLY recommend visiting http://www.flashkit.com it is one of the online flash resources that has been around a while. After you run through a beginner tute, you can visit flashkit and use their user forums for any issues you may come into (such as actionscript coding, or if you run into a problem on something you did for example). That site also had some free great movies you can download and disect to learn how they were put together. And lastly, books books books! :) SO many out there. Amazon is a great way to find highly rated design books. Flashkit.com should also offer up some good ones. I have not gotten one on flash in a long time, but when i was learning, they were very helpful. PeachPit Press used to put out the quick learner guides. Not sure if they still do that or not, but it is something to explore. Best to just thumb through some flash books at your local bookstore (big local bookstore) - Barnes and Noble always has what I am looking for when it comes to design books.

Hope that helps get you started!

Well it took me 6 months to teach myself Flash and I am a super quick learner. I still only have a slightly above average grasp on it...

Go to the book store, grab a book and start reading it.

try www.w3school.com

Have someone download the knowledge to you while you're in the Matrix.

Anytime, glad I could help! Lynda.com is the best if your a very visual learner. I had been trying to grasp CSS positioning for a long time, when I finally decided to run a CSS video tute from Lynda and it was the best learning device I ever used. Just an FYI on that. :) NO, I am not a lynda.com crusader, but an honest user who has just gotten so much out of her tutes! :) Happy flashing! :P
