Anybody else hanging at home this new years eve?
Anybody else had Planet of The Apes movies on AMC playing in the background all day?
Mrs. Kool and I will be staying in tonight. She will be making the traditional Filipino feast of rice, Lumpia, Pancit Cantone, those weird little sweet rice things wrapped in banana leaves, and some chicken soup. My job is to make the sweet & sour and cocktail dipping sauces for the Lumpia.
Grabbed a couple of DVDs at the video rental, I'm not sure whether we'll start with Oceans 13 or Balls of Fury. http://koolsplace.com/images/koolsmiley.gif

I'm staying in with the nieces, nephew, the sister and brother-in-law ;)
I made chicken and potatoes for dinner ... but we have popcorn, taco chips and salsa and beer and juice for later ;)
I have no desire to venture out on these snowy roads with the people who will be driving tonight ;)

I am headed out to a friends house for a small partry. The misses isn't too happy about it and wants to stay in and have a little easy going party here... Not happening though. *shrugs* O well. Heres to a good time!!!
Have a great one everyone, no matter where you are!!! :D

Yep, I'll probably eat 30 or so of them tonight. My wifes are the only ones I can eat because everybody else puts onions and other obnoxious veggies in them. :)

We stayed at home.
I played chess with my 6 year old (we stale-mated the game once he had only his King left)
We ate Subway sandwiches, and drank Jones Root Beer colas.
..............oh! And we banged on the kids' new percussion set at midnight...nice and loud.

Here I go, sounding like a broken record, yet again, but I'm at the office, working (I do have a bottle of 90 proof Vodka to keep me company though.)
Bosses are leaving in a few days for an event, so they would like the magazine done and out to the printer on the 2nd and yet again our lazy F***in' writers have chosen not to turn their articles in until the very last second (something I confronted the editor on the other day when she asked to see the final design for an article she didn't even have e-mailed to her yet [she said "design it with Lorum Ipsem and guess around 2700 words"] needless to say I told her to "get F***in' Bent".)
and yes, I'm salaried:mad:
But I have you guys to ignore me too, but atleast it's out in the open.

We stayed in last night.
Mini-TBK is officially a week late now. So the wife and I are just waiting. And waiting. And waiting...
We're both starting to go a bit stir crazy here.
That sucks Zip.
TBK, he/she is just waiting so they don't get stuck with the dreaded combination christmas/birthday gift thing. Another couple of days should do it. ;)

I stayed in too. Just a quiet little party.
Watched 300 and Saw (which was not at all what I expected it to be - it was a pretty good B grade horror movie!). Caught a little Planet of the Apes (I love that last scene in movie #1). Had shrimp cocktail and champagne at midnight.
Wasn't too impressed with the Dick Clark coverage. They picked up the ball shot late. I see they updated the ball too. LEDs. LOL.
Happy New Year, everyone!
The Saw movies were pretty good, the quality goes down as the roman numerals go up though.
I really tried to like Balls of Fury but it was just a little too dumb. And I'm a guy who used to like Beavis & Butthead. I liked Oceans 13 though, way way way better than Oceans 12.
Stayed in last night... after going for a burger run at McDonald's that is.:D
I watched part of Planet of the Apes. It came on at 1am.

We stayed in, which is just fine by me. Kept an eye on different countries via a web applet that let us know when they were having their new year's, so we wished the different countries happy new year until it was time for our own.
Our neighborhood was pretty noisy, at least the first hour, lots of fireworks going off, pots banging, mariachi music playing, etc. Kind of goofy and fun. :D
No Planet of the Apes, however. I keep forgetting they do that marathon.
Lumpia sounds good, Kool, I think I've had it before, I can't remember for sure.

Went to Illinois for a big family get together. Around midnight we were all in the basement playing Loaded Questions, while most of us were plowed. The more clever writers you have for that game, the funnier it gets. I think some people were on the brink of crying from laughing so hard.

Nothing like curling up on the couch to watch a few quality arthouse flicks. :p
I will have to check out Oceans 13 - I really hated 12 so I have been ignoring it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
We stayed home and made a party of it. I made everyone's favorite dishes (beef tenderloin with portabella mushrooms, baked chicken wings, shrimp scampi, roasted red potatoes and mac n' cheese), bought a nice dessert and popcorn, watched movies until we saw a heavily gussied up Dick Clark announce the New Year. Then the adults toasted with some dry champagne while the kidlets toasted with gingerale in fluted champagne glasses and continued merry-making until we turned in for the uh...morning.
We woke up after noon and now the littlest kidlet is still up at nearly midnight. Did I mention that they go back to class in the morning and that it'll be frigid? It's going to be a whole lot of fun trying to wake that kid up in a few hours.
Ah well...the fun had to end eventually.

I went through the same thing with my first (officially 10 days late). I finally had to evict her via inducement. I guess with a foot perpetually crammed into my ribs she wasn't in a rush to leave.

Just got back from camping. 4 days on the booze without a shower and no flushing toilet. You'd think I'd be having a shower right away but look, I'm here. That's commitment.
Hope everyone's NY was good even if it was spent at home.

I wish my Filipino friend would make some more! We just put cabbage and carrots in ours with meat. Add some hot sauce or ketchup and we are good to go!!! :D

New years blew for me...
Went to our party, parked my gf's Jeep Cheroke on the front lawn of our friends house. Girlfriend's sister and I went to the back of the Jeep to pull out all the juice mixers we had brought. Locked up the Jeep and as we get halfway up the driveway some delivery guy blows into the back of her Jeep!!! Not 20 seconds earlier we were standing RIGHT THERE!!! Gf needs a new bumper, gas tank and gas tank sheild. Car is plenty drivable though. The guy in the lowered older accord ran right under us. He needs a new hood, bumper, fender, headlight, grill, fog, radiator and Lord knows what else...
We are all fine, just really sucked and put a damper on the evening.

My mind is SOOooo in the gutter this morning. You said "pigs in a blanket" and I thought you were talking about having your tool all wrapped up for her when she walked in the door. I was like "Woah, TMI dude!!!"

My NYE was... meh. My fiance and I went to the movies with his parents (National Treasure II, good movie, not as good as the first, but still good). When we got back to his mom's house, she checked her voice mail and turns out her 95 year old father was taken to the emergency room after falling at his nursing home and having a high fever and high blood pressure. Turns out he has pneumonia. He's still in the hospital, and undergoing several tests to determine his overall health (neurologist confirmed that he's in the early stages of dementia/alzheimer's, will also be seeing a nephrologist) but otherwise he's fine (nothing broken from the fall).
After all that, we went to a steakhouse I used to work at (and still have a few friends who still work there, including my future maid of honor who was bartending). The place was totally DEAD, there were only 4 people there who weren't employees (and only 3 of them). After that we went home and got our drink and smoke on and stayed up until 7am.
And then I didn't get out of bed on New Year's Day until about 5:30. :D
