aww .. :(
I beg to differ - It not sad ... It's empowering. The kiwi's ultimate goal in life was to experience flight. Instead of giving up on its dream because of his stubby useless wings, it chose to pursue it, spending a lifetime dragging and nailing trees to the cliffside. The tear near the end of the movie is not one of sadness or fear of his impending death ... its happiness. The kiwi had lived life by its own rules and fulfilled its ultimate goal in life - consequences be damned.
Am I reading a bit too much in this short film ... maybe ... but its a good thing to think about at the start of a new year.

MD, your concept came to me later in the afternoon.
Was he willing to die for 'freedom'?
Talk about reading too much into a cute little film.

Cute. Maybe there was a big marshmallow at the end that he landed on?

The British ending would cut to his sobbing wife and kiwikids.

Maybe those tears at the end are realization that 'having' is not at all like 'wanting'.
