I was just thinking about how much I hate tiny little pixel images and how hard it is to work with them some times. Then I got to thinking wouldn't it be cool of there was something that took vectored photographs!? I don't really know how it would work... but it would be cool. Any thoughts? oh an go ahead and steal and develop the idea if you can, just gimme one when you're done =D

Take your image and run it through LiveTrace. Problem solved.

Ahuh!
It may even pay to save your pixelated image at different sizes (just artificially up the resolution) because LiveTrace can handle images differently depending on their size.
I normally do a large, medium and a small one, Import all 3 into Illy, LiveTrace all 3 and then pick the one I think is the best.

If you dont happen to have Illy, or a newer version with live trace; use http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/
Here is a photo I tried on it back when Stanford first opened up the site:

I remember you posting that Graphix, and remembered also being pretty impressed with the result. And then I tried it on a very simple logo, just to see, and it sure did put a lot of extra stuff (points) in there. Then again, I guess I probably shouldn't have used it on something that I wouldn't even use Live Trace to redo.
The photograph example is pretty impressive, though. :)

hehe, I can get great results with illy, I just thought it might be a cool new solution to low resolution pictures, although with the number of mp's cameras have these days, it would help make poster size pictures. It was just a thought

It would help to use the right equipment if you want poster sized images.
Your 'vectorgraphs' are not the answer. Being a large format printer, I see things everyday that just should not be made larger than a magazine spread...
iStockphotos, even the xxlarge, are not meant for anything larger than 48" wide, if that.
That's what film and drum scanners are for. Or possibly a scan back camera. Not your little SLRs.
