Here is me rendition of a Jeep, the Warthog from the Halo game series for Xbox. I designed it from the body of a Wrangler, extended the back a bit, and tried to make it look like a warthog with its curves, while still making it look like a Jeep. C&C appreciated!

/me breaks mknabster's gradient tool!
Very cartoony colours, halo logo looks weird, gradient gradient gradient. Can't remember exactly what a wathog looks like but that doesn't remind me of it, probably just the colours are throwing me off though.
It's an ok start, keep at it.
Well...for your second vehicle illustration, you're getting there. I agree, there are a lot of gradients and they're all going this way and that way.
Try to imagine where reflections might be and add some highlights there instead of just randomly on each body panel or section. In this case along the upper parts of the fender, hood, roof line. Experiment with adding some gradient into your 'roll bars' to make them look 'tubular' and steel-like.
The wheels aren't too bad...just look at ways you can add more 'depth' and realism to them...more 'character' if you will.
Also, watch your alignment...I noticed both wheels are not 'level'...one sits higher than the other. Make sure they both touch your base line that you have added. The 'align' tool is one of your greatest friends in Illy. The headlights and grill look pretty nice.
Keep practicing...you're getting better. It all takes time and patience.:)
