I love the concept! Definitely for outdoor use only though - would make a watery mess of the furniture my indoor plants are on.

does the water fill hole have a lid or is it one way?

I don't understand how the water doesn't come back out the center fillup hole when filled up all the way... Looks cool though! :)

I think it would work indoors if the octopus was less round and more long so that the sprinkling area was much smaller, but you could still hold a decent amount of water.

I've always wanted one of these :)

so cute! I think I'd want to try gardening if I had one of those....oh wait, I kill cactus, maybe not....

well it could sit on the porch and be a great conversational piece at least!

I kill catus as well. I always thought about getting the plastic variations...but then I'd have to dust them off.

My ex-flatmate had a real cactus that was glued to a fake plastic pot (with fake gravel). It still lived. At least I never saw it die the 12 months I lived in that house.

You could still use this octopus water thingy to wash those polymer cacti off. :)

nikklemomo, what software did you use? 3DSMax? Maya? You should try some of the lighting options in either.

Try 4 spotlights. Point the lights at the object from the 4 corners of that wooden platform, with large radial fallout (which you can focus from a small point to a very large radius). Adjust the lighting where you still have the glow from the inside (as you do), but are able to see the outside more clearly.

Lighting is a double edge sword; use it correctly and it can make any object/space/design stand out well; use it poorly/incorrectly and it will make the object/space/design lit up so bad, that you will have people like me point it out. ;)

My sentiments exactly...which is why I have zero plants in my house, real or fake. :)

I have quite a few plants in my house but bunnies get a bit over zealous with their "pruning" so I actually have quite a few potted stumps. I'm normally pretty good with watering plants.

you could always have the ability to twist the tenticles and turn them off which would allow you to use it indoors - just an idea - great concept

Have you ever held a pot full of water by the handle for a long period of time?
Now imagine that pot upside down (with the lid glued in of course :p).
Hope your wrist's strong.
If not, it will be. LOL!

:D Thanks everyone!
urstwile, thank you so much, wait a while~;)

balou, thanks! haha, the octopus is not that big, its tentacles' diameter is only 14cm, so i guess it won't make mess indoor.

vtwin_gary ,yes it has a lid, pictures below could show it more clearly.Thank you.

CkretAjint, thank you. Ah, because it has a lid, as you can see from the pictures upstair.

Budafist, thanks, haha, yep, the octopus is not that big, as i said upstairs, only 14cm (diameter)for the sprinkling area.

Tea, ah, the eyes could show the water level, and with different volume of water, the octopus sometimes looks awake, sometimes looks sleepy. Thank you for your comment.

graphicsmama, thank you so much, haha, I guess cactus only needs water once a week, but if you still worry, maybe could take my cactusman as pet, haha.

Amy~ thank you very much, wait a while, see if we could surprise you, haha.

Drazan, haha, best wishes for your cactus.

Navian, thank you for your comments and advices. Ah, I use 3dsmax, but just for making basic shape to show the concept in different angles, lighting really important like you said, I just used omni in this model, i will try spotlights to let the outside clearer, thanks.

Jam, thanks a lot, haha.

PrintDriver,ah, like I mentioned before, the octopus is not very big, I set its head's diameter only 13cm, only could fill in 1.15L water, and the end of the handle, there's a rubber flower, it could show how much water inside by changing its size, and also could help user's hand feel comfortable and less weary feeling. Ah, thank you for your comments.
