Can anybody point me to a good source of information for the design and delivery of graphic assets that will be displayed on a range of windows mobile capable mobile phones / pds'a etc?

I'm specifically after instruction on how to best create .ico files used to launch applications in the windows mobile (standard) environment.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Typically, you just make an RGB graphic in Photoshop at 16x16 or 32x32 or whatever size is required...and export an .ico file. There's a plugin for Photoshop that lets you export an .ico file: http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/

I've used that plug-in to make .ico files for favicons and it worked fine.

What design help do you need for it?

Thanks... but what I'm really after (as is probably not explained very well in my original post) - are the display specifications etc.

I need to know what dimensions, and colour depths icons and other graphics need to be - when designing for an application that will run on the phone.

Ie: Application launch icons that sit on the main menu need to be 256 colours, 32x32 pixels in size etc etc...

I'm comfortable creating the assets - just can't seem to find a guide for people who are creating apps for windows mobile.

Thanks again though.

try howardforums.com
the people there know everything there is to know about cell phones.

my suggestion would be to pull some icons from the current phone & open them in photoshop & see.

after a little searching it seems that each phone & phone provider have different versions of software you'll need to know what phone & what provider you are making them for.
