Just thought I would start throwing my work into the showcase every now and then. Just finished this website for a client. They were really happy with it...thought I'd see what you all thought.
I'm still waiting for them to get me more content - demo mp3s (they are finishing it soon), and their biography.

it's simple and nice -- the only problem i see is that i'm on a very big monitor and a high resolution; thus, making the footer almost never touch the bottom of my browser. that really ircks me, but i understand it's a drawback of having a large display. when the page is full of content is looks nice.
with that said, there's also a lot of whitespace around the outside of the design. on larger screens such as mine, the body text gets lost in all the white that i see around the design. i realize contained designs aren't always a good thing, but sometimes they can be too open -- you're utlizing the thin blue border already in certain areas, it might be nice to add a watermarked background of sorts, maybe radio waves as if they were broadcasting away from the page like your header somehow. just a really light, subtle background to help keep the eye focused on the page, and the whole theme of broadcasting i think can work well with something moving off the page.
but that's just a suggestion, i think it's fine how it is. the fonts for your headers are a little cliche for a band, and seem out of place with the font for the header as well as the header graphic, but that's one of the main themes right now in that industry, so i can see why you chose it.
nice job!

Yeah I have a huge monitor too..but unless your a designer, your really not seeing it like that.
I kept it simple, and wanted a lot of negative space to compliment that. The band really liked the idea of really simple - and used the Stereolab website to show me as an example of what they liked...so I kind of took that into my mind when I did this. I also had some limitations due to the Ecommerce software that was implemented, along with back-end custom CMS sytem built in that ROCKS! :)
I'm more and more just trying to be compliant - no tables, divs, css, SEO, etc. I went with simple fonts...your kind of limited on what you want to use, so i don't think its fair to say I was being Cliche' on this one - I wanted to go w/ non graphic navigation for easy updates.
*I also am not a fan of images behind text for content areas, makes it harder to read.
The only thing that is bothering me is that every time I hover over a menu element the ul or containing div is becoming larger.

yeah that bothers me too...
not sure how to make it work right...

I was going to say the same thing. The underline is pushing the container down/making it bigger. Either make the container bigger, or the underline smaller.
Looks good, nice work.
I think the simplest thing to do would be just change the height:
#topnav ul{
font:14px verdana;
margin-left: 0;
padding: 0 0 2 6;
height:27px;
margin:0px;
background-color:#6666FF;
background-image: url(../images/ui/catalog/blu_topnav_bg.gif);
}
You'll need to play around with it but that should work.

Good stuff. The footer at the bottom kinda bothers me. The height is really big. Whats up with that?
Also your right heading is not lined with your left heading. the tour dates heading looks slightly higher than the other. Is it?
Also your title bar...jsut a thought, but instead of underlining the words why dont you have the broadcast lines (like in your logo) but in red. Would this be too cheesy?

Awesome, thanks for the feedback thus far guys...I'm going to get to making some of these updates...esp. the nav...but I have to get some other client stuff done, and I am waiting for these guys to get me their demo for the flash player, and they have merch for me to set up...so I'll be doing more updates and will include it w/ those.
I like the footer, btw! I wanted to go with this minimal/simple feel but I wanted to bring more color in...I think it's different...why should all footers be small and skinny? Its on the bottom, and has the nav down there...blah its fine! :P ha ha
I don't want to over do it w/ more graphics though - again they really like simplicity. I checked the tour heading also...what browser are you viewing it in? I wonder if its shifted in other browsers...it looks aligned to me - could it be an optical illusion so to speak? I used the 'sliding doors' technique so its placed in there absolutely by coordinates. If u view any heading image, you will see they are all in one file.
I thought about using the broadcast lines for the header like that, and i did try something to that effect while desiging this concept - but it didn't look right to me....felt too redundant - too many curved lines with the circles in the header graphic, and the logo. So I wanted to break it up a little bit and set it apart more.

Your comments make sense to me. Viewing on IE6. Maybe it is an optical illusion. the more i look it as it seems the text is aligned but the blue bars are off. Maybe my left eye is lower than my right one??
Havent looked at source. How did you lay this out....not with tables i take it?

you know what i do? I put a piece of paper or ruler up to the screen and see if it lines up...it does in firefox. Its like the nav, lol the left side thin blue line kind of looks longer than the left - but its the same just throws you off because of the background.
Anyways this is layed out with NO TABLES - all DIVS and CSS. I stopped using tables about a year ago.

thought that menu thing could be seen as annoying I almost kind of like it for a rock band's website. It adds a little movement and "rough around the edges" kind of feel.
Overall I really like it

thanks colonel! :) Yes, thats why i didn't see the movement as being such a big deal....I am probably going to try to fix it when i find more time....getting slammed w/ the freelance work all of a sudden...all at once!
