about to install it now. i was told to uninstall the previous version instead of just upgrading. don't know if it really matters

one of the tech guys i work with said to uninstall the old version, but he's a windoze user. on the mac os, you just drop the firefox file into applications. i didn't bother taking the old one out, i just overwrote it. works fine so far. another peecee user installed it on his machine and he says 'no problem, mon!' i think if you're using the previous version it would make sense to get this one.

i downloaded firefox for mac but i was very dissapointed with it so i switched back to safari...
firefox always messed up tables and cells on many websites for me, and it seemed to load slower... :(

i sometimes have problems with safari not loading certain pages. and i occaisonally have problems with firefox not loading pages correctly, but not more than safari.

*shrug*

new version of firefox is working fine, although for some reason it wouldn't let me use my exisit prefs. something about them being in use (even though I quit Firefox and even restarted to try and fix the problem).

Ooooh, Yay!

*Goes to download.*

When I install I always go over the old version, but I backup my preferences and bookmarks just in case.

No. It is just another piece of software that allows you to view web pages. However if you are playing this game through MSN Gamezone, then they force you to use IE.

I've been using it for a while ... very nice. Sadly, too many sites have been designed for IE only. This is not a firefox problem, but a long-time mozilla/gecko problem ... developers just don't test enough. I'm amazed at how many sites break apart in non-IE browsers ... it is quite appauling really ...

Firefox's biggest (and only worthy of mentioning) problem is CSS printing. Try print-previewing as many sites as you can ... you'll likely find it crashes at some point. I noticed this whilst learning to develop a print-friendly back-end for a website I'm currently working on. You need to be very careful with your styles ...

Aside from that ... love the browser ... especially the Web Developer Toolbar ... I'm always testing images on/off and the validation resources (learned quite a bit about w3c standards). Like it or not, ensuring your sites are viewable to everyone is an honorable 'and often hair-pulling' skill.

Regarding those finding the browser (or other browers) running slow ... fonts. Too many installed fonts can make the Opera browser take upto 3-5 minutes to load ... seriously ... 5 MINUTES. If you find this is happening to you ... get yourself a font Manager like Adobe's - allows you to group fonts, and turn them on or off at will. All your apps will thank you for it.
