blog header -- please critique (gently)

Hi,
Some of you may remember when I posted my first feeble attempt at designing my own blogger header... well, over winter break, I went back to the drawing board and tried again.

At first I really wanted to go with a more cutesy than elegant look, but I'm ok with the (elegant) result. Now I'd like to hear about it from a designer's perspective.

I could also use some advice on the overall blog design. I want to stay within the blogger templates because they're easy to work with (I'm no web designer) but I can play around with the color schemes. I had a lot of ideas, couldn't decide which way to go, and ended up just sticking with the basic white for now. I plan to play around some more in the future.
Do you think this template and this header work well together?

Daughter of the King is sitting too close to BasMelech Blogs. Move DotK up a little.

There isn't much too comment on. The background is white like many other blog and youv'e used a serif font with blue as the accent colour. There's no design atrocities being committed that I can see here. No one is particularly offended. It's neat and tidy but nothing amazing either.

I agree with Buda about moving up "Daughter of the King". I would have to say that while it is like a lot of other blogs, it is a VAST improvemement over your last design. So, god job on that!

I don't mind if it's not totally unique; I'm not skilled enough to write my own template and I don't care enough to pay for one. As long as it's a cut above the default, generic blogger things.

Do you think it would look better if I take the 3-d effects off of "daughter of the king"? I thought it might be too much. I think next time I get onto a graphics computer to try moving the text up, I'll look at that too.

I think personally I would prefer it with only the image on the left, or only the faded image on the right. Also just play around a bit with fonts for the main text.

As stated above move it up a couple notches. Keep in mind how the main font interacts with the font in the bottom right. Just play around with font choices, maybe what you have now is the best, but you never really know till you've tried everything else hehe.
