In may I graduate with an assoicate degree in graphic design, although I do have more fine art credits from a different school. Having just an assoicates will I be set back? and i'm from cincinnati ohio, i know there are some big companies here but is this the best designers area to be in?
Thank you,

February, you should post your query in a new thread. This thread isn't really meant for a question, it's here so that we can all get more of an idea about what we all do in our day to day.

You need a killer portfolio.

No harm would come of going for the bachelor's degree. It's always a good idea to learn as much as possible, and a bachelor's degree (generally) speaks more to your education and dedication than an associates.
That being said, you really don't need any particular degree for this field, as long as your portfolio is absolutely stellar.

Yeah, right, if that were really a requirement for being a designer, we'd see a lot less prepress people in the Things That Jerk My Chain thread :D

I'm a Cincinnati designer with an Associate's degree. I went to the Art Institute of Cincinnati and found the job I have now through them. The market is competitive and many jobs are not advertised in the traditional sense.
As for the degree, I know that more education looks good to our HR as applicants are initially screened out, but that's about it. I don't care where you went to school or for how long, I want to see what you can do.
