Hello!
I had a client ask for this..
A business card, completely black, that has text that can only be viewed under a black light...
Can this be done? And what type of paper (or printing process) is this called?
Thanks!

you can do a semi raised UV.

Interesting brief!
But won't many of the client's clients miss the point?
Or maybe the business card is only to be handed out at clubs where there are blacklights or something?

yer sposed to read it not lick it Ckret.
Reminds me of an experiment we did a while back putting a matte overlam on a board painted with Wildfire. The matte overlam had a UV blocker in it and the blacklight didn't work, LOL!
But I think you are looking for the invisible ink, right? Something like this stuff?

Hey thanks for the link! that gives me some more ideas...
does anyone know of a printer who would do this type of 'invisible ink' printing?

Maybe it's for a bowling alley owner convention.

Haha... That would be a good application for it, Ajint-man! It would have to be one of the big mob bosses who deal in large shipments. I'm sure they all have black-light money detectors, so they would be able to read each others cards easily when they need to make a call - but it may get thrown away as a blank piece of cardpaper if picked up by the public or the fuzz. xD

Man this has got me thinking. Never seen it done before but how would an offset printer know if he's in registration or not? One color and a black light would do but running this type of ink in an inkwell on press? Tricky indeed.

no not a drug dealer lol, and certainly nothing illegal...
but the cards are definitely supposed to be for 'certain eyes only'....

I don't believe it is invisible until it dries. Seems to me it is rather runny white in color. At least the paint stuff is. Don't know about the ink.

How about a card that is printed in blood and then supplied with a black light and luminol? Have I been watching too much CSI?

Get one of those underground coal miner helmets with the light on the front and replace it with a black light bulb.
