I need your opinions - 2012 London Olympics logo

Ok, this is for my dissertation for my Graphic Design Degree! So if anyone would like to add any comments then I would like to hear them

Otherwise, I would be very grateful if you could partisipate in my poll

Yes, I have read it with interest! I'm just looking for people's thoughts on one of the specific things listed above, to help support one of my arguments ;)

I think that I am turned off by the very 80's shapesIt look really tacky

The bright colors don't bother me by themselves. But added with the tacky shapes, that don't even read as the date/numbers, that really makes me hate it all together.

Its would be best to define imperfections in this logo by defining at what it lacks. Therefore, I recommend you study up on past design philosophy for olympic logo designs rather then just focusing on the aesthetics.

some of the previous designs for logos have been REALLY nice... and have gone on to not be chosen... so i never know what they actually look for in an olympic logo... not much obviously.

For a dissertation I'd highly recommend reevaluating your topic and choosing something more universal and impactful to the design field then a critique of a logo – or is this just a small part of a bigger picture?

I have nothing against bright colours or breaking tradition, but that thing is fugly.

I know you can check all the boxes. Hence my comment. The other two on their own are not design no-nos.

Yep, just a teeny part of the big picture! The hand in date is 4th March, so it's about 97% done now (thank god!)
