I've been asked to create a 20 page book at 5X9 inches in size for a local festival that will involve everything Polish or from Poland in the community. Business from the city will have their ads put into the book and im guessing there will be other bits of information added to it. I have a full time job already so this will be freelance as well as my first real freelance job. I've asked my boss how much I should charge for such a project and he said $X CAD (CAD and US are basically the same now) although X sounds like a lot of money to ask for such a project. The city isnt even that big, about a pop. of 200,000 so i dont think the organizers budget is too big. Personally, I was thinking about Y-Z dollars to charge, and even then, I'm not sure if I should ask so much, because the job is pretty easy although time consuming.

Any ideas on what YOU guys would charge? Id like to find a good middle-ground, I dont want to ask too much for fear of losing a potential client and I dont want to ask too little for fear of getting not enough....I know I could set an hourly wage, but then I dont know how much to charge ($A-B/hour?) and Im not sure how id go about recording hours.

Thanks!

Sorry, I've had to edit out those numbers. I'm afraid we're not allowed to discuss pricing here (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21482).

I would figure out how long it would late me to design 1 5"x9" page. then multiply it by 20, add 5 pages and multiply that by your hourly rate and then give that as a quote. Then if you come in lower your golden. Slightly over and your covered...
