How to create a Silverlight logo?

I'm just curious how I could create a Silverlight logo :)

It looks delicious. Just for fun I'd like to create a copy of this logo. What tools should I use? It seems like it was done with a 3D authoring program, don't you think? How would you create such a logo?

Ah! I'm actually a great fan of them, I have this one tutorial bookmarked: http://www.ndesign-studio.com/resources/tutorials/abstract-background/2/

But this is quite different from the techniques used for 3D effect in the Silverlight logo, no?

Calande, up the number of steps in the blend. Instead of 20 try 100 or more. Of course this will bog the piss out of your machine though!
