Depends on the jobs you're looking for. An illustrator will have more illustrations. A web designer will have more web sites. If you're not sure of your niche, have stellar examples of what you thrive at.

There isn't requirements as to the kind of work you must include. Theoretically, you could include a portfolio with one type of work, but all of those types would have to show that you have a grasp on many facets of design.

Try to have 10-15 pieces of your best work, and try to have a variety of styles and techniques within. My portfolio had a few examples where I used my own photography, some with my own freehand illustrations, some with Photoshop manipulations, etc.

As I mentioned in your other thread, the "portfolio" section of our frequently discussed topics (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=33048) thread has some excellent information about this sort of thing.

Check it out! ;)

You have 10, maybe 15 minutes of your interviewer's time when reviewing a portfolio. Plan wisely. Virgo, I personally think 15 is too many.

you should have pieces that you can talk about, ie why you chose to do it this way or that, the target audience, what were some of the problems while working on it and how you solved them, etc.
