Hello,

I have been using Xara3D to create my 3d fonts, then transport to photoshop for styling and positioning etc

But I want to up my game and have more control over composition, textures, lighting etc, with out having to use photoshop.

Some good examples of what I would like to achieve:

Bearing in mind I’m only going to be using the 3D program for typography, I would like opinions on what is best.

My work colleague swears by 3D studio max, but he is an interior designer.
I have heard that Cinema4D is good.

Any ideas anyone?

Almost every 3d app out there has s trial versions... i would try them all out and buy the one you like best. Those programs cost a lot of money so you should make sure you really like it before you make the investment.

I recon I'm going to go with Cinema 4D. I have found some good tutorials out there, specifically for creating 3D typography compositions.
Blender looked good, but have found more tutorials for cineam 3D to get me started asap.

Cheers
