I was wondering if I could get some advice. I am a current student at San Diego State University. I enrolled in the college as a polisci major, but have since decided to persure a graphic design career. I changed my major to art, but the school only offers a BA in art with an emphasis in GD. Will this be proficient in obtaining a job post graduation? Or should I transfer to a school offering a BFA? I am also concidering staying at SDSU and then going to grad school after, is this a good option? Anythoughts would be awesome! Thanks.
Both are pretty much equally credible to employers and schools. That is unless you would like to enter into a graduate program in a contrasting major. Than you might have difficulty if you get a BFA over a BA. You get more flexibility out of the BA than you would out of a BFA if you ever decided to enter a contrasting graduate program.

It's the portfolio that will get you (or not get you) the job more so than the type of degree. As long as you can show that you have a good eye and are proficient in the programs they use, there shouldn't be a problem.
Here's a good post (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137155&postcount=2) in our FAQ with several links to read about GD education.

tZ- what do you mean contrasting major? Something completely unrelated, or another art specialty?

could be different where you're at, but i think here BAs are more academic while BFAs focus more on praticums, projects, etc.

a BA is a more liberal arts degree, whereas BFA has more credit hours in design. im just confused as to which will be better in the long run.
Well I was considering a Computer Science graduate degree after my Graphic Design degree. However, since I will hold a BFA most schools require a BA to be considered for the MA. basically, they want you to to have the libral arts associated with the BA that you don't have to have in the BFA – more core classes. That is if your BFA is very different from the graduate area of study. Personally, I would recommend a BA rather than a BFA because both are equally credible only with one if you decide on a change in the future you'll have a easier time than with a BFA because of the lack of some liberal arts classes. However, in the BFA you do get more exposed to design and profession than in a BA (based on the course load.)
