Hello,

I work mostly with Corel Draw and been doing graphic design since 1999 and am self taught. I am looking for a few graphic forums in hope of getting some input on some projects I am working on and hitting brick walls. And help others in return.

Thanks
Kimber

Welcome aboard, Kim. We're a pretty helpful bunch (and a little nutty, but I'm sure you'll figure that out soon enough!).

Kimberh,

Hitting brick walls can be painful, but what else are you going to do when they start talking 'bout your mama? I can withstand any insult aimed at me, but when some wall starts impugning the character of the woman who spawned ME? No, uh-uh, we're going to throw DOWN, Brick-Boy. Insult my mother, and I'm coming after your mortar.

Anyway, I don't know what these other people mean when they claim that people on the Forum are "nutty." This place is all professionalism.

What's that, stapler? Oh no, you di'n't. Excuse me, I have to go make this Stanley Bostitch into my Stanley Bos-b**ch.

Hi Kimber.

So what do you do for fun? Apart from visiting brick walls ;)

There is a way around the brick wall to have fun??????
PLEASE tell me how :p

For fun we hit winter farmers markets and then fix huge real farm cooked meals like the in our childhood days. Today weekend's treat is a heritage turkeys which is a old turkey breed brought back. A group took wild turkeys DNA to find the closest dna from wild turkeys to breed a turkey close to original type of turkey people age before people started breeding for grocery stores.

Yes, we have a very exciting life!!!

MMMmmm Turkey! My mum, back in the UK always gets the family a Norfolk Black Turkey for Christmas. It's got a fine grain and tastes a little gamey, nothing like the usual turkey.

Welcome to the forum!

You is one spoiled chick Frankster. That is a top quality Turkey and no mistake.

I wonder what Wild Turkey tastes like. I have a strange obsession with meat, I need to know what they all taste like.

I have a similar obsession, but there are a few meats that are best left untasted.

Maybe you would be interested in this (http://www.weirdmeat.com/) and this (http://www.beastfeaster.co.uk/).

Hmmm. Duckheads... I'd try it but I can't imagine going back for more.

The beastfeast website is interesting though. I've had 24 of the meats they have listed. I'm a huge fan of Ostrich meat now and Zebra was a pleasant surprise.

Wow. I'm suitably impressed :) 24 meats and still no avocado!

I always thought that you pommies were reluctant to try new things, but maybe that's just some of you and the others are more adventurous than most when it comes to exotic edibles.

I haven't tried ostrich or zebra. I've tried possum though.

I like trying new things. I haven't eaten a huge range of different animals, but I've eaten an extensive range of animal parts. Must be the Chinese in me!

SpugNothuson

Ooooo. Possum. I'd eat that.

Ostrich has become my alternative to Beef. There's an Ostrich farm about 10 miles from where I live, its a tad more expensive but it's lower in fat than chicken and tastes very similar to beef. I can still satisfy the need in me for a big greasy Cheeseburger and keep the fat intake to less than 3g.

24 meats and still no avocado!
This is a good point, tonight I will go via the grocers and get me an Avocado. What to do with it though. Eat it raw? Slice it into batons and deep fry them? Take the stone out, put an egg in and stick it in the oven? I have no idea.

Virgo Nightingale
03-04-2008, 02:31 PM
Raw will be fine. Diced up in a salad is one way. Just make sure you get a nice ripe one. Firm, but not hard. If they're all too hard, buy the prettiest one and leave it in a cool place on your counter in a paper bag for a day or two. If you do try removing the stone and putting in an egg and sticking it in an oven, let me know how that goes. It sounds... interesting...

SpugNothuson

buy the prettiest one
'cos I wouldn't want to eat an ugly Avocado now would I?

I'm eating it not having whoopee time! :D

Virgo Nightingale
03-04-2008, 04:58 PM
Well, the flesh of the avocado is quite soft and silky...

SpugNothuson
03-04-2008, 05:33 PM
Hmmm... soft like a peach?

Avocados aren't hairy are they? Hairy fruit freaks me out. I hate having to shave Kiwis.

garricks
03-04-2008, 05:38 PM
I <3 kiwis. Especially buda! :p

But seriously, I cut 'em in half and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. No shaving necessary! Oh, and no, avos are not hairy. Unless you lose track of 'em in teh back of the fridge for a couple months.

budafist
03-04-2008, 10:13 PM
Spug, you shave kiwis? That's weird. Do you eat the skin or something? Or do you shave them to avoid touching the skin?

If you eat an avocado, you know you are going to retire that signature. Maybe to:
Meats: 24
Avocados: 1

Good luck on your avocado eating escapade. If you don't like it, you can always ship it to Virgo. It will be brown and stinky by the time it gets to her and she can really prove her love of avocado.

Oh and garrick I <3 you too. Silly badger, badger, badger...mushroom, mushroom!

Virgo Nightingale

I'll still give it a good home, even if it isn't in my belleh.

SpugNothuson
03-04-2008, 10:28 PM
Do you eat the skin or something?

Erm... No? Oops, you're not supposed to eat that bit are you.

I also eat ALL of an Apples, Lemons, Limes, Pears, Grapes (seeds as well). I drag a sharpe knife over kiwis, cut-throat-razor style, as the hairs feel weird on me tongue.

budafist
03-04-2008, 10:43 PM
No, you're not supposed to eat the skin on a kiwifruit, but why would you shave it if you didn't eat it?

Oh, by the way, in New Zealand you call the fruit a kiwifruit and a kiwi is the bird or a New Zealander.

So eating a kiwi would not be a vegetarian option ;)
