So after months of checking out this forum, with Cornfed in my ear (we work together) saying I need to join, here I am! Glad to be a part of the community, you all are quite a lively bunch and I figured you could use a little cajun spice :D I graduated May 06 with a BFA, concentrating in Graphic Design and minoring in English. I'm working at a newspaper, sitting right next to cornfed! So it's nice to be a part of the forum that has been our topic of conversation for so long!

Welcome aboard Sweet Tee! Say, if you and Cornfed post at the exact same moment, will it cause some sort of warp in time?

Is it possible to have a bag of nut, singular?

garricks

From the 1896 GDF convention. Several bags of nut.

I suppose if you put 1 peanut in a ziplock you would have yourself a bag of nut.

Welcome sweet tee! Ladies from Louisiana? Man, I'd love to have some spicy seafood gumbo right now....:D

budafist
03-04-2008, 09:00 PM
I have yet to try gumbo. But I did try Jambalaya last year because of the southern folk on this form.

It's not easy finding Jambalaya in Auckland!

cornfed
03-04-2008, 09:35 PM
Yummy! I've been on a seafood kick lately. We ate boiled crawfish weekend before last and boiled shrimp last weekend. Yummy!! Buda, you could easily make your own jambalaya! I make chicken and sausage jambalaya most of the time.

budafist
03-04-2008, 09:41 PM
I guess I make similar things to jambalaya. When I put all my random bits together and make risotto-esque, fried rice-esque things with pasta sauce.

Man we so need to do grocery shopping. We moved house over the weekend and so had to defrost our fridge last week. We only plugged in the fridge in the new house last night but we have nothing to put in it.

Gumbo!?! Where?

Yeah, seafood gumbo would be great right now. I actually have some in my freezer... too bad I work late tonight!

How'd the move go buda? How's the new place?

Sorry for the hijack! Was just curious...

budafist

Caution! Thread hijack!

Move went fine. It rained most of the day we moved, but we got our stuff in.

Having issues with the landlord at the old house. They are first time landlords and seemed to think that it was the tenants obligation to steam clean the carpets. It's not. Tenants are required by law to leave the house tidy. Vacuum and wipe is cool, steam clean is not required. We did pay to shampoo the carpet but the landlord is selling the house and I think they were just trying to get a free steam clean out of us as well. We've given them $25,000 over the last 9 months. You would think that they could take some of that money to go towards the $200 steam clean if they really wanted it.

Haven't got the bond back or heard from the landlords since we moved out. Have to contact them to demand our bond back or go to tenancy tribunal but am not looking forward to it. We are in the right. I know that.

Even the real estate agent going through the house made the comment that the house looked fantastic. I really wanted to get her on her own to find out if she thought the landlords were being unreasonable. She would have seen her fair share of rental properties in good and bad condition.

Is this another house or a large apartment?

It's another house. I'm not into apartments anymore. We need grass for Tofu.

I had my first taste of crawfish a few days ago. Had it at Oceana down on Conti, right off of bourbon st. Love that place. If anyone goes to New Orleans that is one of my suggestions is to eat at Oceana and you might want to get some Barbequed shrimp.
