I stumbled upon your spectacular forum while searching for a page specs.
Been in the field for 10+ years, recently joined my wife in her self employement venture.
Jumped ship a couple years ago after a design burnout only to quickly discover that working in situations where you can end up bleeding on a daily basis was not for me.
That about sums it up.

Congrats on the new venture! I hope that working with your wife for yourselves helps to reignite your passion for design.
When you have a few moments, please be a dear and take a look at the threads posted here (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42); they explain just about everything you need to know about GDF. (And I did work terribly hard on them.) :D

I heard there was good money in HVAC. There is if you're into working side jobs all the time or working for yourself. But just being a service guy didn't pan out like they said it would. I gave it three years and it had just turned my life upside down. 12 hour days in the searing heat, stuck in peoples basements, spiders, mice and other unknown creatures stalking me while I did my job.
It was time to come home. Now I'm back in the hot seat with a fresh perspective on the career.
